I have always loved taking pictures. I received a 110mm film camera as a Christmas present when I was 10 and have been taking pictures ever since. I remember setting up stuffed animals as models and spending my allowance on getting rolls of film developed. Despite my interest in art and photography, I started University with the ‘practical goal’ of an Engineering degree and came out 5 years later with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography. My electives (which I chose as art classes) were far more interesting than my main course load and I ended up switching colleges from engineering to fine art half way through my degree. In retrospect, feel I made the right choice. I don’t feel I learned much about the business of photography at university but it did give me some artistic foundation to stand on and set me on the track to pursue a living as a photographer. I currently work as a full time microstock photographer and also run the MicrostockGroup forum and blog.
